The first session of the Andhra Pradesh
Assembly, after the creation of Telangana, will be held for five days
beginning June 19.
It will have five working days from June 19 to 24, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu told reporters here today.
On the first day, the newly-elected members will be administered oath, while on the second day elections will be held for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
On June 21 -- Governor ESL Narasimhan will address the joint session. On June 23 and 24 there will be debate on the Motion of Thanks on the Governor's address.
Senior TDP leader and former Minister Pathivada Narayana Swamy Naidu is likely to be the Protem Speaker of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.
Telangana came into existence as the 29th state of India on June 2 capping the decades-old struggle in the region for carving out a separate state from Andhra Pradesh.
The session will be held in the old Assembly building here.
